With the planting of 1,000 vines, the installation works of the new biological vineyard of IFESTIO ANEMOTIAS S.C.E. continue in the framework of which a two-day experiential planting workshop is organized, on April 16-17, in Anemotia, Lesvos.
After the impressive response of the people in the experiential dry stone workshop in November, during the first stage of shaping the field where the new vineyard will be installed, the S.C.E. continues with the next participatory action. The planting of the new vineyard is an ideal opportunity for meeting and cooperation of young and old vine growers and other interested parties.
The purpose of the workshop is the first acquaintance of the participants with the vineyard and the ancient art of viticulture, the transfer of know-how to younger professionals and amateur growers. The workshop will include practical work on the planting of vine subjects and interactive lectures, related to the soil characteristics of the field and soil management, planting plans and system, selection and care of the vines.
With Dionysus, creator and protector of the vine, as an ally, the days will be spent around the cauldron with steaming food, accompanied by wine and tsipouro and to the sounds of musical instruments and songs.
The workshop is carried out in the framework of the project “Rehabilitation of degraded soil through its transformation into an organic vineyard for the conservation of indigenous varieties”, which is funded by the “Green Fund”, the program “Natural Environment and Innovative Actions 2021” and the measure “Innovative Actions with the citizens”. Responsible for the implementation of the project is “Ifestio Anemotias” S.C.E. in collaboration with the Skalochori Environmental-Cultural Association – “DRYS” and Anemotia Viticulture Association – “O Kampos” and with the contribution of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest.
