Social Enterprise “Ifestio Anemotias” in collaboration with the Cultural-Environmental Association of Skalochori “DRYS” and the Anemotia Winegrowers’ Association “O Kampos” and with the contribution of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest are organizing: Experiential Workshop Vine Grafting in Anemotia on 1st and 2nd October 2022.
PURPOSE OF THE WORKSHOP
The installation works of the new organic vineyard of Social Enterprise “Ifestio Anemotias” are completed with the grafting of 1,200 vine subjects and the organization of an Experiential Workshop Vine Grafting, on October 1-2, 2022, in Anemotia, Lesvos.
This is the third experiential workshop in the process of setting up the vineyard and once again we expect a lot. After planting the “wild” vine rootstocks, after learning about soil preparation, rootstock selection and human and environmental friendly vineyard management techniques, it’s time to graft our vine to make it productive. Vines from vineyards of the wider region, of four different native varieties, have already been selected and tested. With these, the local vines adapted to the local soil and climate conditions over the years, we will graft the “wild vines”.
And along with them, we will also exchange “goodies”. We expect two days of exposure, communication, exchange of ideas, expression of feelings and sharing. We will be “inoculated” with new experiences so that we too will become more resilient, more creative and a bit more … tolerant.
PARTICIPANTS
Residents of Lesvos, professionals, farmers, members of collectives, students, volunteers.
WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
The workshop will last two days and will include practical work on the grafting of vine subjects and interactive lectures related to the importance and process of grafting, the necessary cultivation care, the prevention and control of vine diseases.
